From the moment the series was first announced, we all knew what we wanted. A battle between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. The series gave us what we wanted and so much more.
The 6 part series sees Obi-Wan who is challenged to come out of hiding to save young Princess Leia from the Inquisitors. He ends up drawn into a trap, and must finally come to terms with the consequences of his own actions after defeating Anakin Skywalker at the end of Episode 3 of Star Wars.
As we watch Obi-Wan as he goes about his new adventure, things really start getting interesting around the midpoint of the season. That is when Darth Vader enters the scene, and he is really powerful to boot. This is the most ruthless we seen Vader in a very long time, and I’m sure most of us are hoping for a Vader series. They even got James Earl Jones to come back to do the voice. We get a tease of the ultimate battle to come, and Obi-Wan is essentially owned by his old friend. That is when he realizes there is no going back.
Then we have Reva, who is desperate to prove herself and will do anything to gain the power she wants. There is a backstory as why she is the way she is, and we watch her ascension. But as we know, those who rise too quickly end up falling, and falling she does. She thinks she has everyone fooled, including Vader, but Vader has a trump card. She gets humbled real quick by the end of the series.
The final episode is the one that pulls out all the stops. There are so many reveals in that episode, and a certain line that fans will cheer for even appears in this one. The first official duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader was pretty intense, and even though we know how it is going to end, it was still exhilarating to watch. The series ends with this storyline wrapped up, but there is hope for a season 2. Not sure where they can go with that, but I would be interested to see what they come up with.
Obi-Wan Kenobi has its share of flaws, but it still is an entertaining series to watch. All 6 parts are currently streaming on Disney+ if you decide to check it out.
